In 2008, Burnham Market International Horse Trials in Norfolk, England ran close to 900 horses at 6 different levels over 3 days of x-country, including a CIC***-W, a CIC*** and a CIC**, during the last week of March. The event hosted well over 200 Advanced horses, thought to be a record for a national class, to date, and there were competitors from across the globe including China, Germany, Belgium, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, USA and of course from all over the UK.

The event ran as a resounding success, with Francis Whittington scooping top honors in a highly contested CIC***-W.

2009 has Burnham dropping the CIC***-W. My brother Alec - as event director - has taken a stronger role in the course designing, on the back of my move to the US. They will be running a CIC*** and a CIC** and still expect to be accepting the large entries of 2008

Hugh has been involved at Burnham Market as the primary designer since it's first running of a novice horse trials in 1998.
